Getting a job

in Australian ski resorts
Most snowsports schools in Australia hire new instructors out of the early season training (or hiring) clinics they hold at the start of the season. The best chance of employment in the Australian ski resorts is to have a instructor qualification and a valid work visa.

If you have done the ELITE program, you will be able to bypass these hiring clinics and simply start work.

If you are given full-time work with Thredbo Snowsports School you can apply for employee housing for the rest of the season. You may also go on to do your APSI Level One qualification during the same season.

Jobs at thredbo snowsports school

Thredbo Snowsports School looks to our program to obtain new staff which could be you. You have the training and the certificate, they need the instructors, no need to do a hiring clinic as all ELITE candidates are placed with Thredbo Snowsports School.

You will need a valid work visa or to be an Australian resident to be employed by Thredbo Snowsports School (they will not provide you with a visa.) www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/

Continue on and do the apsi level one

When you gain employment with the Snowsports School you can continue on training with the school for free and sit the APSI Level One exam within the same season. You cannot complete the Level One without working for a snowsports school.

  1. •Can be done in the same season as the entry level.

  2. •Can only be done if you are employed by a snow sport school in Australia

  3. •Training for this level is done in house with the ski school you work for and therefore free.

  4. •You must have teaching hours completed to do this level.

  5. •Level one exam is two days at the end of the season and does cost extra.
