Here is an excerpt from the APSI manual about customer service.
There are two fundamental truths about customer service.
– There is more to customer service than simply being friendly to guests. Friendliness is a crucial element but if it is the extent of the service provided you will never be good at customer service.
–A snowsports resort, or any service industry company for that matter, cannot survive unless all of its employees provide high standards of customer service.
You can develop good customer service skills and learn to interact more successfully with people by understanding how to:
– Treat people well
– Communicate effectively
– Read people
– Deal with conflicts or misunderstandings
– Control outbursts of temper
– Learn from your own and other people’s mistakes.
Really being an instructor is about being good with people, which is really a skill that will move to any job you go to. All from sliding around a hill enjoying yourself, what a awesome job.
